A Little 'Southern Hospitality'
Disciple exceeded expectations and reached career highs with their last album, “Scars Remain”. Success milestones in the Christian AND mainstream industries brought new fans and wider exposure through a Dove Award title of “Rock Album of the Year” and license deals with shows such as WWE, “Cyber Sunday”, NFL’s “Total Axxess” and FOX’s “Best Damn Sports Show.”
I am waiting in great anticipation for “Southern Hospitality”. What little I have heard leaves me wanting to hear more. Brad Noah has since left the band due to health issues and still contributes significantly. This allowed for Noah to focus on writing, spend time in the studio, develop the sound and craft its Southern Rock influences. Last Fall, CRTV caught up with the then band members, Kevin Young, Tim Barrett, and Brad Noah to talk about this new album.
Without deviating from their solid hard rock rifts, ‘321’ amplifies the guitar solo in a way I’ve never heard Disciple deliver. I mean it is sick. The band’s own site claims nearly every song has Noah on a guitar solo that will make this Disciple record any guitar player’s favorite.
You’ll also notice new influences and amazing energy igniting the stage. This is largely due to Disciple’s new members, guitarist Andrew Welch (from Capital Lights) guitarist Micah Sannan (from Falling Up) and Israel Beachy (from Staple). If you haven’t seen these new band members tear it up on stage in a live show – make that a MUST DO in this coming year.
I even got caught up in Micah’s dramatics and showmanship as he jumped off stage just as my camera and I were in position for his landing. Even with a near-collision, Micah went on into the audience not missing a single note – playing the whole scene right into the camera. Insane.
Stick
around CRTV in the next week… you might get to see that footage coming around
soon – and Micah, glad I didn’t stick my camera to ya… no worries – I am fine;
it made for great footage!
